IRL(In Real Life)

I’m now really close to a hundred pages into the book and its pretty amazing. First before I tell you how this book relates to IRL events, I should tell you the general idea of the book. We are told of a risen civilization in North America, where there used to be fourteen districts ran by one government. Districts 13 and 14 rebelled against the government in hopes to gain equal right and freedom. The government acted on the rebellion by wiping out both of the districts.

To show the governments power and to send a message to the other 12 remaining districts they have an annual Live TV event called the hunger games. Each district randomly chooses one boy and one girl from the ages 13-18 to participate in the games, which is a free for all fight to the death. If one of your representatives’ win your districts get a lot of food for the next year, hence the Hunger games.

            Now this kind of reminds me of the protest in Libya. Where The People are protesting there ruler Muammar al-Gaddafi. So what does Muammar Al-Gaddafi reacts to the protest? He decided that sending out military troops to kill all protesters that oppose him and don’t want him to be their leader. I think this ties into the book well.

Goals

I think this independent reading project is awesome for many reasons, the first reason is I can actually pick a book that I like for a change, and not get stuck with the books my parents enjoyed back when they read it on stone tablets. The second reason is that I can make my own hours to read and take it at my pace; I don’t need to worry about Dislocating my jaw from yawning. Also another big factor is I’m not getting graded by quizzes or test which helps me not stress about the book, but in a sense enjoy it.

My first book that I’m reading is The Hunger Games  so far I’m in eighty pages of the book and I’m loving the plot. I already beat my record by reading eighty pages in an hour and thirty which shocked me that my attention span can focus that long. I hope to get a A and read the whole trilogy of books. Well that’s all I have to say about that, and with three hours to spare!
